Pistola
Maya Pistola Agavepura, a 100% Agave spirit, is hitting the Indian market in Goa next week. Crafted from Wild Agave Americana (often used in Mezcal), growing naturally in the Indian Deccan Plateau, Pistola is a home-grown artisanal spirit produced in small batches. The spirit is distilled in Chittoor and aged, bottled and blended in Goa. A product of Pass Code Spirits Co. - a sister concern of Pass Code Hospitality - which runs highly acclaimed bars and restaurants such as PCO, Ping’s, Jamun, and SAZ, Pistola is the brainchild of Rakshay and Radhika Dhariwal.
When the pandemic hit in 2020, the restaurateurs decided to spend some of their new-found time to work on bringing something new and exciting to the market—a high-quality 100% agave spirit, that makes for a better, purer choice of drink. As the product launches, they are confident that Maya Pistola Agavepura will forge a new category of agave spirits not only in India, but in the world. The name, Maya Pistola, is inspired by the agave spirit’s brand mascot, the re-imagined and reincarnated Goddess of Agave, Mayahuel. The question has been asked – Why Pistola? “The pistol was, in fact, created not as a weapon of harm, but as a tool of justice and democracy. A pistol encourages authenticity and ushers in truth. Our aged Agavepura is devoid of any adulteration or coloring. Our consumers can be assured that what they are drinking is 100% pure. A spirit that makes one feel authentic and elevated,” says Radhika.
